Mincetur claims that international flights would not operate until the end of the year or the beginning of 2021

Yesterday, the new Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Rocio Barrios, announced that international flights would be authorized again by the end of this year or the beginning of 2021, depending on the reports provided by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) regarding the advance of the coronavirus in Peru.

“This is not definitive because we still have to wait for the results of the Health sector, (but we hope) by the end of this year or the beginning of next year to be able to open (the international flights),” declared the head of Mincetur, after attending the ceremony of delivery of mechanical fans donated by Confiep.

Barrios explained that first coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), the Foreign Ministry and the Minsa will be necessary to announce this type of flight, so “it would be very risky to guarantee it at this time”.

As a consolation, the official said that in these months will encourage domestic tourism. “We are going to promote in the following months, facing the end of the year, the national tourism to prepare ourselves with the security measures at the level of protocols and also with the capacity of response to be able to open the international flights and the tourism afterwards”, she added.

He also said that today a supreme decree would be issued that would modify and improve the scope of the FAE-Tourism in favor of the Mypes, in order to increase the number of accessory companies. However, this regulation has not yet been published in the Official Gazette El Peruano.

“Tomorrow (today) a supreme decree will be issued by which we are making two improvements to the SAF-Tourism in order to expand the beneficiaries. In this case, the mypes with RUS, which were not currently considered, will now be considered and above all also take into account the total debt level that mype has,” said Minister Barrios, quoted by El Comercio.

After the inclusion of the improvements to the support fund, the regulations will be approved “in the next” hours in order to begin the process of loans and disbursement of resources for companies in the tourism sector, the official added.
