Costa Verde: ‘Car-free Sunday’ returns due to closure to vehicular traffic until the second half of August.
Every Sunday from 5 am. to 12:30 pm. for recreational and sports activities, without generating crowds.
The Municipality of Lima informed that the initiative ‘Sunday without cars’ in the Costa Verde will return from tomorrow May 16 until August 15 2021, in order to promote recreational and sports activities without crowds in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). This measure could change according to new Government dispositions.
In a press release, the municipality indicated that the vehicle restriction will be applied every Sunday of the established period, with the exception of May 23rd, from San Miguel to Chorrillos, from 5 am. to 12:30 pm.
The measure is supported by urban mobility inspectors and non-motorized transport counselors. In addition, an ambulance will be in the vicinity to attend eventual emergencies.
It should be noted that the evacuation of the road will take place half an hour before the opening of the Costa Verde and its accesses, in order to protect the safety of citizens practicing sports.
